Rock Identifier ("we", "our", or "the App") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your personal information.

1.1 Photos and Camera Data

When you use the identification feature, the App accesses your device camera or photo library. Photos are primarily processed on-device using our machine learning model. When cloud-based identification is used for enhanced accuracy, photos are sent to our AI service provider (Anthropic) for analysis. These photos are not stored on our servers after processing is complete.

Information you enter about your samples (names, notes, categories, photos) is stored locally on your device and, if enabled, synced via iCloud to your other devices. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

3.1 Anthropic (Claude API)

When you use cloud-based identification, your photo is sent to Anthropic's Claude API for analysis. Anthropic processes this data according to their Privacy Policy. Anthropic does not use your data to train their models when accessed via their API.

3.2 Apple iCloud

If you enable iCloud sync, your collection data is stored in your personal iCloud account under Apple's Privacy Policy. We do not have access to your iCloud data.

3.3 Apple App Store

Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple. We do not collect or store your payment information.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored primarily on your device. We employ industry-standard security practices to protect any data that is transmitted to our services. Photos sent for cloud identification are transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and are not retained after processing.

On-device data is retained until you delete it or uninstall the App. Photos sent for cloud-based identification are not retained after the identification result is returned. Anonymized analytics data may be retained for up to 24 months.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
